Voltage relay question

I have a 2019 2500 and am having some battery/voltage issues recently. I was told by a mechanic to get a voltage relay from a dodge dealership but when I call them they tell me there are so many relays that they don’t know what I’m talking about… My voltage is anywhere from 11.2 - 13 at any given time so something is off. Any suggestions? Thanks

There isn’t a voltage controlling relay, that’s controlled by the ECM.

There is an intelligent battery sensor that helps with charging.

First thing to consider is the batteries thou, how old are they?

The voltage will and should jump around. It’s not like old vehicles where it stays at a constant level.

Are you having any specific issue or is it just that?

I’m assuming you’re looking at the dash gauge and watching it jump around?

The batteries are about 6 months old so I think they are good. One was replaced recently

Yes it’s jumping around and at one point the truck wouldn’t start. Had to jump it.
Then its a bad battery or a draw. If you see over 12.6 then it means the alternator is charging

And with dual battery setups, a bad one can impact the other one. I usually replace in pairs.

So I originally replaced both about 6 months ago and we had this problem so I was told by a mechanic one was bad… So I replaced that one and it was fine for a few months and then now we are having the issue again. The mechanic said to get a voltage relay from the dealership. I guess it could be the other battery is bad so I’ll check that. Thank you for the info!

The mechanic is not much of a mechanic if he thinks a voltage relay is an actual part unless he ment voltage regulator whick is also not a part on these trucks since the regulator is part of the PCM

Good to know! Hahaha. To be fair he told my wife who then relayed this to me so we could have something lost in translation! Haha. Thanks for the help
