Use Aux switch to disable dash cam?

Just looking for confirmation that I'm going the right way with the install on my dash cam as I didn't see anything specific to my plan in the multiple Aux/dash cam threads. I have a 2022 3500.

I need to be able to quickly turn off my dash cam when I go on military bases. I also want an easy way to turn off the camera/parking mode during long term parking. The camera will be behind the rear view mirror and off to the passenger side a bit, so not convenient to reach for buttons.

My hardwire kit has 3 wires that require connection: Battery, Ignition, and ground. I was planning to jump the pass through under the hood to bring power in the cab on one of the Aux switches. Then I would connect the ignition lead from the hardwire kit to the ignition lead on the upfitter plug behind the e-brake. I'd connect the hardwire battery lead to the Aux wire on the upfitter plug and connect the ground somewhere under the dash.

I think the Aux switch would need to be programmed for latching/battery/retain last state. Make sense? Any drawbacks to wiring it this way.

Thanks

Now that I think about it some more, all the above set-up is going to do is shut-down the parking mode. I'd need a switch on the ignition wire also to be able to turn the camera off while driving. Doesn't sound like it's doable without a complex set-up that will probably lead to me forgetting to turn the camera back-on at some point.

Just to follow-up in case someone comes across this thread while searching . . . I was in fact able to use the Aux switch to disable the camera whenever needed. Viofo dash cams apparently only use the accessory wire as a trigger to tell the unit to power up or to put it into parking mode when the ignition goes off. Power for the camera always comes into the unit on the battery wire. So, with the battery wire connected to the aux switch, I can disable the camera with the switch whenever I want. Works out great for my use case.

yuh i wired mine into the aux switch as well. its nice because I can just use the truck settings to program switch always on or ignition only, its been on 24/7 for a year with no issues, camera will probably shut off below a certain voltage but hasn’t been an issue with the 2 batteries.
