Just looking for confirmation that I'm going the right way with the install on my dash cam as I didn't see anything specific to my plan in the multiple Aux/dash cam threads. I have a 2022 3500.
I need to be able to quickly turn off my dash cam when I go on military bases. I also want an easy way to turn off the camera/parking mode during long term parking. The camera will be behind the rear view mirror and off to the passenger side a bit, so not convenient to reach for buttons.
My hardwire kit has 3 wires that require connection: Battery, Ignition, and ground. I was planning to jump the pass through under the hood to bring power in the cab on one of the Aux switches. Then I would connect the ignition lead from the hardwire kit to the ignition lead on the upfitter plug behind the e-brake. I'd connect the hardwire battery lead to the Aux wire on the upfitter plug and connect the ground somewhere under the dash.
I think the Aux switch would need to be programmed for latching/battery/retain last state. Make sense? Any drawbacks to wiring it this way.
Thanks
