So I traded up from a 2017 1500 Lonestar to my new to me 2019 2500 big horn. The things I miss from my 1500 are the remote start, the 8.4 screen, and the uconnect remote access from my phone. Yup, I've locked keys inside a few times. If I make these relatively simple upgrades to my 2500 will I be able to use the uconnect remote app functions?

You will need the 8.4 with nav for any connectivity features but im not sure if they will work if not equipped from the manufacture. @Jimmy07 should know

I've unintentionally tried locking my keys in my truck about 3-4 times now over the 11 months I've owned it. it just honks at me and unlocks the doors.

if the key is within the range of the RF hub inside it will unlock if you try to lock the doors when leaving the cab

Thanks for the info. Tried locking my keys in the cab and got 3 beeps and all doors unlocked. Wish I could get the remote access with my phone but these fobs have a good range.

Unless something is different when you retrofit a radio Nav is not needed. I have the 8.4 w/out Nav and used the connected services while they were free.

That being said, it’s an overpriced and underperforming app and I wouldn’t subscribe if it were $0.01/mo.

Perhaps for u connect 5 but the UC4 the regular 8.4 has no connectivity but the 8.4 with NAV has the app available

Interesting, I had recalled it being an option on my 18 8.4 non-Nav with Uconnect4.

Yes i believe the 19-21 was different i know the 18 down UC4 you could pay around 500$ and get the nav activated aswell after buying the vehicle so it does line up with what your saying for your 18.

2017 was the last year you could add Nav without a hardware change.

18 was also the first year of CarPlay, so maybe that makes a difference.
