Turbo bark / surge

Has anyone had a turbo bark issue on firm/quick upshifts under boost? I’m getting a very strange noise on my 2-3 and 3-4 shift under high boost/load situations which sounds like a quick bark/surge coming from the turbo, the aisin shifts so firm/quick I think it is contributing to the noise, much like banging gears in a turbo car only we don’t have a BOV to protect things, the truck is a 21 HO for reference.

I have read reports of folks saying the Aisin itself making a sort of "groan" in high load situations, but don't recall anyone saying turbo bark.

This is definitely not a groan, 98% sure it’s turbo/boost related

@saltman I think i know what you're referring to - I don't know what it is, however. On 2-3 under medium to high acceleration I hear this "bark" ... although it sounds more like a 'quack' to me. Honestly, it sounds like a diverter valve (similar to a bov) that's venting internally; but i've not found any evidence to support this. Previously, on gassers, turbo surge has more of a flutter sound than a single bark/quack. But it definitely sounds boost-related. 2020 HO/AISIN here.

Definitely the same noise I’m hearing as well, I know it’s not legit surge like when a compressor is out of its map under load, but it’s definitely something funny going on with the turbo and excess boost through the sharp/firm aisin shift. I have not cared enough/dug into things under the hood to see if there is some type of boost pressure bypass, it is definitely a very similar noise if I had to describe it, I’m going to call it a turbo fart if you will

Hello new here I have a 2016 H.O Cummins with the 6 speed aisin I'm having the same weird turbo bark when up shifting has anyone figured this out I even put a bov in the truck and it still does it under load

New here as well, have thought about this since it was posted.
Just thinking out loud here, but the first thing to pop into my head was the waste gate opening just momentary between shifts and under load making the noise.
Turbo still spinning high under load, transmission shifts, load goes away momentarily, boost has to go somewhere, wastegate opens, load returns and gate closes.
Just a thought.
