Trying to get in on these deals

First of all Hello everyone. Just wanted to say Hi. Found this site while trying to research the new rams.

This evening the wife and I went to go look at a 2500 ram. Ended up looking at a 3500 and was very impressed with how well it rode. This dealer told use they are doing 120 days no payments and 0% for 72 months. Problem is they did not have a 3500 with the air suspension so we went to another deal to test drive that one. That dealer then tells us there is no 0% on the HD rams anymore. Im going to call the first dealer in the morning to make sure if they have it or not.

So one thing I did not even research is how much better is the HO with the Aisin? I test drove both and liked the aisin but I wont be towing all the time as this is my all round truck. We are looking to get a boat down the road and may tow more later one but for now this truck will be my DD. Looks like all the 3500 lefts in my area are all HO though. I think there is a little bit more maintenance on the aisin but other then that is it that much better?

Sorry for all the questions. Just new and learning.

Forgot to add that I am in the Fort Myers Fl area. Any know if a good ram dealership around this area that is good to work with?

Thank you in advance.

Just something to consider: the HO uses more fuel. That is the trade-off. Might be a consideration if it is a daily driver.
And the SO is a very capable motor too. Depending on the max towing you are going to do, the SO might be a better choice.
Keep looking for a 3500. It has the payload to do most tasks.

The AISIN is the workhorse. Designed for towing. But not as smooth. Think more like a bus.

Thanks for the info. it seems that I can only find the HO in the trims I like in my area. I kinda found a truck that I like. Longhorn HO with all the option but with out the 360 camera. I can live with out the 360. Going to call the dealer in the morning.

Do you want the HO to say you have 400hp/1000tq or are you towing 15k+ lbs consistently? You seem like a perfect 2500 candidate to me but I'm all for getting what you want even if it's not necessary.

I guess what I'm trying to say is don't try to talk yourself into a HO because its "much better" or needed for your situation but if your heart is saying you have to have the Mac Daddy Cummins under the hood then go for it.

Well after looking the tow and hauling specs of the limited 2500 vs the 3500 I know I want the 3500. If I go 3500.. I guess I might as well get the HO. I like the 2500 but with just 1800 payload numbers of it, we would hit it with 4 people in the truck and some gear. Im going to keep this truck for a long time so just making sure I pick the right truck.

I think a 3500 is a smart move. I was torn and ended up with a 2500 simply because I'm impatient and now I'm living the 1909lbs payload lifestyle lol. But I have no aspirations to tow more than my 10k lbs travel trailer so I'm OK with that.

I got an HO but if it was a daily driver and I wasn't towing 16K, I'd have gotten the SO and 68RFE.

I already made a mistake with a 2500 once, never again. I'm liking the factory air ride so far, and this truck rides so much nicer than my 04.5 2500, but I wouldn't mind running an air lift like I have now but with onboard air and remote controls. I don't like that there's virtually no control over the factory system.

Love the Aisin but it shifts like a bus and is slower to get rolling empty.

I decided to save the extra $3K and go with the 68RFE purely based on the fact that this is my DD and I only tow our 16K fifth wheel 6-10 times a year. If I full timed or towed greater than 14K pounds daily I would have gotten the aisin. Personally I hated how the aisin shifted empty.

Well.. just happy to say that i am now a happy Ram 3500 owner. Got a great deal on the truck. Now its time to read up on mods and upgrades. First mod is a tune. Need to get pics up. Found a scratch on the truck that dealer will let me know what they want to do. But over all happy.

Nice. Time for pics. Did you get the zero percent?

they no longer have the 0%. No real good deals on the 2020 either. the truck had been sitting on the dealer lot for over 3 months so they wanted to sell.
Now have have to do a lot of research so Im going to be reading up on this site. Need to read up about oil bypass filters. I have all my oil changes for the next 5 years already paid for. I just need to read up on what the maintenance schedule is for this truck. Also need to read up on any additives I need to be using. A lot of learn as this is my first diesel but its going to be fun.
