Truck never sleeps?

If I turn it off, (2021 2500 Limited) and stay inside, everything powers down. Then radio speakers pop, dash powers up, powers down, speakers make popping noises, etc.

It never actually just powers off completely.

Drives me nuts because on long boring trips - sometimes for safety I stop and take a nap. Can't do it if the truck won't shut up.

Ideas?

Did you try just opening and closing a door once ? I did that at a rest stop and nothing powered back on or popped like your talking about.

So here's a fun experiment everybody that has a keyless entry go get in your truck but don't start it shut the door and then just listen quietly to see if your speakers make noise and watches your dash cycles on and off and on and off

Yes mine does this type of thing also. I find that putting the FOBs in a Faraday pouch or container helps quiet things down a bit. I have never tried to sleep in the truck, but sometimes I don't start it for a week or two and I was worrying about all this running down the battery.

I leave my fob in the truck when it is parked in my garage or driveway and have slept in the cab several times while remote camping.

Wonder why yours does not do the 'sleep/wake/sleep/wake' cycle in the dash then...

Dang im afraid to haha, kinda like once you a hear a noise in a vehicle you cant un-hear it, im afraid of what I may find. I will though later, for the sake of science!

Interesting. At one point I thought it was happening with mine when the FOB was in communication distance in my pocket and I was moving around. But then I noticed it a couple of times when just sitting in the truck. I may have been moving in my seat a bit though. I had also noticed the truck "waking up" when I was near it but did not have the FOB on me, like when it was within distance, but sitting on a table in the house. Since storing the FOB in a Faraday when not using it I have checked the truck several times and not noticed it doing it. May just be coincidence though.

I actually started storing mine a “faraday cage” (more like a pocket) when at home, since the signal is stronger than we think. Thieves actually go around checking door handles of cars in driveways to see if the key is near by. This actually happened to me with my Raptor, I locked it, and early in the morning some dirt bag just reached for the handle and truck unlocked. All caught on cam… next day bought the key pouch.94425DC1-4A22-43E0-A59B-7E62E13945E6.jpeg

Check your pouch every month or so. I had one that quit working after a few months. Odd, I guess the coating wore off or something. Still looked normal.

Thanks good to know! I will now going foward.

Apologies OP for getting off topic, just figured folks should know the key fob signal can be stronger than most people think. It could be your key is close enough that your truck anticipates you are going to do something, hence the cycling you are experiencing.

This is the conclusion I came to. These computers on wheels may be trying to anticipate your next move and be ready for it!

Was sitting in my truck the other day for an hour waiting on the wife. Just reading stuff on my phone. After the 30 sec I have set, the radio went off. Never came back on. No popping in the speakers. Key was in my Jean pocket the whole time. When she came out, I just pushed the start button and it fired up.
Sounds like your truck has some issues that need to be addressed.

The problem is, do I want it to sit in a Technician's service bay, for 6 months, while they troubleshoot? Not likely.

might be better then something happening and having it catch on fire in your garage because something is shorting out...I know very unlikely but it would bug me. Heck it might be something simple.
