Truck is "bouncy/springy" when towing?

Im actually one of the few folks out there who enjoy bringing friends/family boating.... That said @azrwilkinson @Rockcrawlindude, a 30 rack (for after, i dont drink while boating), $50 for gas and lets ride!

@MegaRed definitely love this toy.

So..... towed it to the river (little more than 3 hours), so glad i upgraded to the 2500 what a difference, thing is a beast! There would be times id feel a little sway and realize i was going 73mph as i was going on a decline and be like oh sh*t! so would slow down immediately (doesnt help the weight distribution is off because all the weight in the back as i told you the gas tank was FULL) Just have to learn the power of the truck still which i did one the way home and 63-65mph seemed to be the sweet spot for my max. 8th gear on flat and cruising. I can confirm.... that 350ibs of gas being almost gone driving home made all the different in the world, So unsure about a hauler/trailer but with this boat specifically, it was noticed immediately.... tongue weight you could see the trailer sat a little more leveled as well. All in all, learning experience for me with the boat/trailer and getting some used to the truck. Thank you for all your guyses help.

That setup would be better as a tandem, with the triaxle you are losing tongue weight the boat may be better moving 8-12” further forward on the trailer if possible as you have most of the weight past the rear axles. My boat was the same when I got it I have a movable axle carriage I moved the axles back 10” and it was a huge difference

Yeah so moving it isnt an option. The bow stop arm is welded to the frame would be the first issue. The trailer will stay as is. BUT.....

Thought/question/advice..... so this set up is NOT uncommon with this trailer/axle and sized/type boat, see it pretty often where i go boating and I cant seem to find any threads on this nor have i heard it ever being an issue so i was thinking....

Do you think i bought to small of a hitch? Should i have gone with the 8.5" drop instead of the 7" drop? Yall think that would help with the tongue weight at all? Unsure how that works

Not the first boat on this forum with an issue from insufficient tongue weight.

The 1.5” will have minimal difference on tongue weight.

Not going to lie, i was really hoping to hear this so i didnt have to spend 400$ on another hitch and hope to sell this one for a decent amount

No.

If anything lowering the hitch more puts more weight on the front axle, which further reduces hitch weight. Raising the tongue will increase tongue weight on a multi-axle trailer. Yes, I know that there are equalizers between the axles but there is still a relationship here.

You also put lower rate front springs on the truck, which means that the truck's attitude will change more as tongue weight fluctuates going down the road. IE, the trailer will move the truck around more due to the softer springs.

Are the axles mounted to a carrage or fixed to the frame?

To the frame.

Literally nothing can be moved to help this unfortunately unless i cut things off and weld back on which im not doing, so i guess it just is what it is. Will have to just learn how to drive it and get used to it. Think i mentioned already my truck only turns on to tow my boat and hull my quads and dirtbikes so i dont drive it much anyways.

Raising the tongue height may help but it still sucks
