Greetings,

So when i start my truck cold, when i first put it in drive, there is now a whine sound that matches speed for about 10 seconds then goes away. I know it has to be something in the transmission, because if i am in neutral and rolling it goes away , and returns when i put the transmission back in drive.

Anyone experience this issue? If so what was your resolution.

Will record it tomorrow and post the sound with the thread.

Thanks for any help

Could it possibly be your cooling fan clutch? They sometimes engage at cold start. They make quite the whirring sound consistent with engine RPM until it disengages. Mine just did this the other morning. Normally gone after driving less than a minute.

If this is what it is then I thank you! Mine has been doing it also on random cold starts, like maybe 1 out of 3. Follows the RPM and goes away after like a quarter to half a mile. It's loud

I get this as well, my driveway is fairly long and up hill and a lot of time mine is loud like that until I hit the road and the transmission shifts into 2nd gear and rpms go down
