Transmission over heating issues

Morning Everyone,


I recently acquired a 2021 RAM 2500 6.4 with 56,000 miles, featuring an 8-speed transmission. Approximately one month into ownership, I encountered an issue with the transmission overheating while towing. Upon promptly seeking assistance at the dealership, I was informed of a blockage in the transmission oil cooler, necessitating the replacement of the trans cooler, oil cooler lines, and a comprehensive fluid change. All relevant components were successfully replaced yesterday.

I am now seeking input on the expected average temperature range during routine driving for this particular model. Enclosed are images of the temperature gauge post-replacement and fluid change. Your insights and feedback on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

219 is not technically over heating anything over 235 is though, you should be in the 165-185 range depending on usage

The referenced temp range is correct. My truck, same setup as yours, will run 168F unloaded and while towing on relatively flat land. I've hit low 190s up a mountain pass while towing, but quickly dropped again on the downhill. If your still getting 220F post-replacement, there is something else going on.

I have never seen higher than the low 170*s, here in the very hot and most mountainous state…towing no more than 5.5k
You didn’t block any holes with an LED light bar?

My 6.4 towing 12k through the mountains of WV has never seen anything over 185° during the summer. Regular driving it never goes over 168°
Is the fan kicking in?

Yep, order a PPE one a cpl of days ago!!!!

Unloaded temps since replacing the thermal block with the PPE bypass block...... Almost a 100 degree drop off!!!!
