Started my '20 Ram 2500 Tradesman up and heard a loud bang near left front side of truck. A few minutes later going down the road from my house the truck would NOT shift out of 1st gear...revved up to around 6000 rpm's by the time I realized it and stopped on the side of the road. I put it in neutral and then back into drive and it was fine...not sure why that would happen?? Anyone else have this issue? Thanks in advance...

Is yours a 8 Speed

Some call it a clunk at start up but there is something about having your foot on the brake pedal too hard during start up that causes it. As for the stuck in 1st gear, that's odd and was maybe a glitch thing. Keep an eye on it and/or take it in to be checked.

My 8 speed did this when trying to pull out into heavy traffic. It left me looking like an idiot standing in the middle of the road during a cattle stampede.

It's in the shop as we speak. At 4400 miles the engine was replaced due to a seized lifter roller that sent metal shavings through the oil. Symptoms were rough idle, lack of power, and poor fuel mileage. New engine has 1600 miles on it. Still has rough idle at times, lack of power, and horrible fuel mileage. I drove 89.7 miles on 12.05 gallons of gas. That was 75 percent city and 25 percent highway. I bought this truck on April 1, 2021 and it now has 6000 miles on it. It was in the shop exactly one month to the day to get the engine replaced and now it has been two weeks and they still have not looked at it. I thought rechecks had some priority. The service advisor told me they had some technicians out sick. I guess that could have something to do with not being looked at yet. but I really need my truck.
