Having difficulty getting the transmission dipstick recall service performed. I called my local dealer in Dec 22 after I got the tailgate alignment recall to get both recall services scheduled. Said they would need to order parts and would contact me when available. Earlier this year I got the recall for the Air Grid Relay so I called to add that and check on the dipstick part availability. "No, don't have the part yet. When do you expect it. Let me check... You are number 30 on our list. So how long will that be? The part is on backorder so we are only able to order 1 per month. So you are telling me it could be 30 months? At this point, yes."
Is anyone else having a similar experience with the recall service?
Thanks

I cannot get the 68RFE OR the grid heater relay done on my 2021 at my local dealership. I have been on the waiting list for many months and when I check they just tell me no parts available yet and they will call me when they are. I know that is not true as many here have had them done. I think it is just a individual dealer thing. I think I have a dealer, (chain of dealerships), that just is not that interested in doing recall and warranty work because they have enough full pay work to keep their understaffed service department busy. Can't know for sure but it seems like it. As I have noted in other threads, I have had two previous recall and warranty claims for simple things and they stonewalled me as much as they could. With the shock replacement, I really felt like they just tried to frustrate me with waiting to the point where I would just go elsewhere and pay for new shocks myself. So I think it is a dealer to dealer thing. Some have good dealer service departments, others not so much.

The few times I have used this dealership for service on my wife's Jeep and one recall on my Ram I have not been impressed. Also did not buy the Ram from them so they may not be fond of the out of area dealer license plate frame. Will try another dealership in the area.
Thanks

You might be right. They can tell from their computer that you did not purchase from them. That is the same case as me. This dealership refused to order a truck even though they had no stock of 3500s at any of their many locations. So, I ordered and purchased out of state. Maybe that is why they stonewall me and not just a general dislike of warranty and recall work.

I'm not sure where you live, but here in Sacramento, California the dealers are "allowed" to perform one fuel related recall a week. I went in for a simple 30k service and the dealer actually had the parts on hand after an appointment cancelation for both recalls. I guess my point would be to try other dealers in the area. You may get lucky. While I'm sure they give the same answer over the phone, I'd venture to say you'd be hard pressed not to have the service advisor (clerk) actually walk away from the desk and look. Unfortunately, I've come to trust door to door solar panel salesmen over FCA employees.

Aside from using my AEV front bumper as a step, not resetting the dash lights and spilling diesel all over the driver radius arm... I'll have to explain how I didnt put 250,000 miles on the truck in a year at the next service lol.Screenshot_20230630_200121_Ram.jpg

My dealer told me 1 part per week is all they are allowed to order. Pretty pitiful if you ask me.

I went to Shelbyville Chrysler in Shelbyville Kentucky because I had been waiting since December for the transmission recall I was put on the list In December The parts department said they has 15 short dipsticks lying on the floor. The service writers were not calling anyone on their list. Service writer said he could make me an appointment if I wanted. I inquired about the service bulletin concerning the 44 inch dipstick for transmission and I got the deer in the headlight look from the service writer and the head parts manager. I was lucky a service tech came by and was listening to conversation and knew what I was talking about. He said it was lunchtime and if I would return anytime after 1:30 he would complete warranty work and he located a 44 inch dipstick the parts department had in stock. The service writers were not happy the tech agreed to do the right thing and help the custome.

Sounds about right.
