Transmission concern?

I've got a '23 6.7L Limited with the 68RFE transmission (3,500 miles). Its behaved strangely ever since I got it but I had hoped it might just be normal or would improve. Then I got a check engine light with a transmission fluid pressure code last week...

Dealer checked it out and said the issue seemed to be a known issue and that a software update and fluid top-off (it was 1/2 quart low) would solve the problem. Driving it for 2 days now, it hasn't thrown another code yet but is still behaving in a way that doesn't seem right to me. Can anyone else confirm if this is typical behavior for the 68RFE or if you think I have anything to worry about?

What its doing is from a "cold start" the transmission just doesn't feel like it wants to get going. In reverse as I back out of the garage & driveway it creeps along and doesn't feel like its engaging normally. It moves, but just feels like the fluid isn't grabbing the way that it should. Once I've backed out of the driveway and shift into drive, it often continues to roll back a bit in drive (going downhill) until drive seems to want to engage. After this "warmup" I can drive away and everything else feels fine. Once warmed up the shifting feels normal and I've even towed a large trailer several hundred miles without issue. Its just that initial getting going from a cold start.

My suspicion is that there's something weird with the transmission fluid not engaging in the torque convertor properly at start-up. Not sure what this could be, but it just feels like the converter is slipping or something until the fluid is warmed up. Mind you this is all in the summer in Texas in 100 degree heat, so its not exactly "cold" :-).

Anyone have any thoughts?

My 18 2500 would do that once in awhile, but only in colder weather (below 50f). I back into where I parked it, so it was in drive that I saw it. Went away by the time I closed the garage door and drove away. Never caused me any issue. But with the warmer temps you're talking about, I think I'd be a bit worried too. But if it's not throwing codes, probably not much you can do. My 22 2500 68RFE has not done that ever, FWIW.

Sounds like it's been running on borderline low pressure for some time and just never tripped a code until recently. I'd have to imagine there's some type of blockage or defect in the VB or TC.

Thanks for the info. That's what I'm a little worried about. @Brutal_HO what is VB or TC?

I guess I'll just try to keep an eye on things and see if it continues to act up and/or throws another code. I'm assuming if its anything too bad that it should be obvious before too long and still well within warranty...
