Trans Dipstick PSA

This morning was checking fluid levels and when I pulled the trans dipstick I found the retaining washer for the rubber stopper about a third of the way down the dipstick. I cleaned everything up and hit it with a tack weld. Hate to think of that thing making it the whole way down into the pan. Check yours next time you get a chance. 2019, 68RFE, right around 40,000.

Thanks for the post, I’ll inspect before my 300 mile towing trip this weekend. IF it ended up in the pan I don’t see it wreaking havoc. With the filters in place suction isn’t really possible. Moving off the bottom of the pan not likely, and I believe there is a magnet to catch it. Anyone who did a trans and filter change on a Ford 5R110 for the first time know what I’m saying?
