Greetings,

I'm looking into ordering a '22 3500, undecided between a Big Horn or Laramie. Sandi @ Mark Dodge quoted a Laramie for me, but she said "Towing Technology Group B" is not compatible with the "Trailer Camera Wiring (No Camera)" I was able to select on the Ram website builder.

So many cameras, I'm confused what is what. I don't feel like the Ram website explains much.

Can somebody please walk me through the options?

Thank you!

You should be able to have both. The trailer camera wiring is just a prep kit that allows you to purchase and hookup the wired auxiliary camera that mounts inside or outside of a trailer.

You don't need it for truck surround view though. What I suspect is happening is that the trailer camera wiring is being replaced by the trailer 360 kit, so maybe that's why the ordering system is puking on adding it. Not sure.

i agree with this. I think the surround is going to replace the camera prep group.

just read info at:

Looks like it’s just using 4 inputs from the trailer that connects to the truck through a connector. You can probably use any of those camera (or maybe another after market one in the future) that can be mounted on the inside.

Anything "Group B" or "Level B" on the sticker is de-contented from what was originally intended due to the Rona chip shortage. You may want to wait until things are back to normal ( ) or unfortunately, your truck will be missing a few things that normally come with the package. For instance, normally with Safety Group you get a killer 7" customizable drive info screen. Now it's Safety Group B or something and the screen is out of the package.

Yeah, I was looking at getting a Big Horn but it looks like you can't get the 7" EVIC at the moment which is a bummer. I think that's standard on higher trims though, so might jump up to Laramie or Limited.

Point is, if you really want to know exactly what you can/can't get then wait until the 2022 details are fully released. I'm hoping that is within the next week considering RAM is supposed to start accepting MY22 orders on the 14th.
