Trailer plug intermittent

I have a 2500 Longhorn. On a first trip with a new gooseneck horse trailer, the trailer harness got wrapped around the bumper tow hitch and pulled the truck female plug a bit loose. Now when a trailer is hooked up, the No Trailer brake light warning comes on intermittently. Can this be addressed without going to a shop? The plug needs to be secured and the wiring needs to checked/fixed to avoid a loss of braking power on the road.

Sure it could be fixed, depending on your skill set. I’d start at the trailer end, make sure the wires aren’t damaged or pulled out of the socket. Then the same for the truck end. A test light or multi meter will help on the truck end. Activate each light and see if your getting voltage. Wiggle the harness and plugs to see when/where it’s shorting out. Pretty simple troubleshooting.
