I need to apologize upfront for not knowing all the abbreviations or proper terminology for these confounded electronics. We cannot figure out why we are having issues with a small utility trailer (4pin connector). We replaced the wiring and lights on the trailer and know those are fine. Did see an issue after it rained that there was water inside both the 7pin and 4 pin connectors. Took a load to the new house a few days ago and the lights seem to only be working when it’s in light mode and not auto light mode. Is this normal? I can’t find it it in the owner’s manual. Why is rain water getting into the connectors on the truck? Does anyone else have this problem?

Check ALL your fuses. I had a similar issue on one of my trailers. Turns out whoever did the fuse install on my truck in the factory didn't seat them all correctly.

If the lights are in auto, but are still off, then the trailer lights will not work. You only get trailer running lights when the truck running lights (parking lights) are on.

Brake light and turn signals should work whenever the respective light(s) on the truck is on.

Thanks so much!

There was that issue as well before we rewired and installed lights on the trailer. Thanks!

Thanks so much, that may solve one of the questions. Do you know why water would be dripping from inside the truck pin connectors to the inside of their respective boxes? I’m thinking there needs to be some silicone put on but that issue will have to be done by the dealer…

They are not sealed connections you will get some water in there from time to time put some dielectric grease in the connection and it should be good

I did that and dab some in about every four to six months! Thanks to everyone who’s helped this old broad out!
