Trailer Harness Connector Fitment

Wondering if anyone else has come across this:

I noted that the vehicle side trailer plug is a little on the loose side, especially compared to my previous truck (2011 1500).

It hasn’t been an issue but this last weekend on my way to and from the campsite I would get a message pop up on the dash saying the trailer brakes were disconnected after hitting some expansion joints/rough road surfaces.

The field expedient repair was to wrap the trailer side connector with electrical tape a couple of times. No issues with the plug staying seated after that.

Has anyone else noticed this or do I have a slightly out of spec plug on my truck?

Well, apparently I should have scanned a little further down the forum, as this thread answered my question:

My trailer plug looks like the incorrect/out of spec plug mentioned in the TSB linked within.

Looks like I’ll have a project before next season.
