Trailer Camera Wiring (No Camera) by Mopar® is installed on my 2021 Ram 3500 Limited from the factory. I don’t know what I’ll need to put a camera on the back of our 5th wheel camper. I’m thinking I’ll only need a camera and wire harness leading from it to plug in where? I’m hoping for some guidance on what to do. Thank you to this great group and forum.

Do you have the 12 pin plug beside your 7pin trailer plug?

It’s key to know what plugs you have on the back. There are two different cameras for the trailers. One is the 360 surround which uses the 12 pin connector and is displayed on your UConnect system.

The other is a single connector on the left side for the digital tow mirror. This would display on your digital rear view mirror.

You mention wiring on your truck so knowing what you’re seeing will help. Your window sticker may be of help as well. Just because there may seem to be some wiring does not mean your truck has been completely prepped for the cameras.

I’m now realizing that I have a 7 pin connector…that means I’m mistaken to have the pre wired camera kit in my truck…..also not seeing it on my sticker..

I hope my sticker will help solve this. I do know that I have the digital rear view mirror.

Yea you dont have any trailer camera options, but you may have the connector for digital rear view mirror on the left side of the licence plate at the rear

I don’t see a connector on the left of my plate. Would it be very noticeable? Like a cover plate type?

I don't recall what the option might be for adding the tow mode camera for DRVM 2021, this FAQ never got completely updated.

Maybe @Jimmy07 can provide some insight.

There is also the trailer tow wiring camera, like the one this thread is named after, that uses the 12 pin. It is labeled aux 1 or aux 2 on the connect.

If you order the 360° truck camera it comes prepped for the 360° trailer camera or the aux camera.
