I did watch a you tube on how to adjust the light/heavy, thanks for the info but the guy said heavy is for 10k or heavier trailers, my camper is 8500
My 5th wheel is 12K GVWR and the boat is 4K and I found LE to be best (less jerky/aggressive).

Does the trailer plug look like the one on the right or left? If its the one on the left you need to change it to the one on the right as the other style does not work right on the rams
New one i put on is the one on the right. Old one was the left one. No change
I have had the old style plug cause issues on 2 of my trailers only one is problem free for now. I think if the pins are good on the old style is fine but if they are worn then you start having issues.I always tell people to change that 7-pin as well but TBH, my 2018 5th wheel still has the old style installed and has never had an issue. One of these days I will put on the new one that's in the toolbox.
You could still have an abraded wire that's just not tripping other truck's system. The Ram seems to be more sensitive. There's also a good sticky here that details the operation of the controller.
You mention voltage on the brake wire? A few have also found issue with the connector on the back side of the 7-pin.
Put the new style on, still have the issueI have had the old style plug cause issues on 2 of my trailers only one is problem free for now. I think if the pins are good on the old style is fine but if they are worn then you start having issues.
The internet wiring is right you just did it backwards as the ram plugs in upside downI know is might seem obvious, but make sure your plug is wired correctly. When I put a new plug on my trailer, I wired it wrong because the "internet" images did not match what was on the truck. Be sure to look at the receptacle cover to make sure you are wired correctly.

I wired it the way it showed on the package double checking old plug to new plug. Yes some wires were different colors due to rv vrs truck wiring. Update dealer just called and said the code showed controller module is bad. So we will seeThe internet wiring is right you just did it backwards as the ram plugs in upside down
I was referring to the other guy.I wired it the way it showed on the package double checking old plug to new plug. Yes some wires were different colors due to rv vrs truck wiring. Update dealer just called and said the code showed controller module is bad. So we will see
@bulldog1543 I am having the same issue with my 2020 RAM 2500 diesel. I have checked all the wiring on my newer 2021 Imagine 2970RL and I can not find the problem. Did the dealer replace the controller module? If so, did it fix the problem?I wired it the way it showed on the package double checking old plug to new plug.
