Mind bogglingly confusing. I have what I think are 2 more simple towing questions. I have the integrated trailer brake on my '21 2500. I was surprised to see the trailer brake power gauge showing the % power going to the trailer brake without a trailer connected. Is this normal?

Question 2- my 5th wheel is just above the 10k weight that is the point at which the manual recommends the heavy electric setting instead of the light electric. What are thoughts about the 2 settings?

These questions don’t belong in this thread about cameras, but-
Question 1- yes, it’s normal
Question 2- that’s something you’re going to have to hook up the trailer and play with until it feels right to you. Start with light electric at 6, and work up from there.

1. Agree. Normal.

The brake controller is slaved to the pedal pressure applied.

If you have a diesel and use the EB you will also see the trailer brake power applied trailer or no trailer if EB is on full and you lift, or it's set On full or Auto and you're running Cruise.

2. Depends on the trailer weight and brakes but My 5th is 12K GVWR and performs better on Light Electric at around 6.

There's a great sticky here about the Brake Controller.

1. Interesting. My 2017 1500 does not do this.
