Just purchased new 2025 6.7 Cummins. Have had quite a few Cummins throughout the years to include 2003 HO 5.9, 2006, 2007.5, 2014 HO with Aisin, 2020 HO with Aisin and know the new updated HO with new 8 speed tranny. By far, the absolute best ride and power I have ever purchased. However, the truck currently has 760 miles and had to wait for the 500 mile breakin before towing. Yesterday (7/22/25) was my first hook up to my 18' aluminum fishing boat I've owned new since 2020. My previous truck before this one was 2023 Ram 2500 Rebel 6.4 and loved the truck but it was a gasser...'Nough said. Issue I'm running into is I connect the boat trailer tongue to the hitch which is also my ground for the lights. The trailer has a factory installed 7pin connector for the trailer lights and surge brakes. Plug in 7 pin connector and no trailer lights. Turn headlights on, no trailer lights, no turn signals, and no brake lights, nothing. Unplug the connector and try again. 1st thought, blow f30 fuse. Turned truck off and checked, no blown fuse. Reconnect everything again and now a "trailer connected" message comes on my dash panel to select a trailer type "conventional/gooseneck/ etc" and lights work on the trailer. Went fishing, no issues even after fishing and on way home. Just this evening, tried it again, hooked trailer up, installed 7 pin into outlet, no message on dash and NO trailer lights. WTF? Shut truck off, turned truck on, turned truck lights on and bingo, got trailer lights but no message on dash instrument panel. Do I need to got manually into the "trailer" menu through the dash to select trailer first or any suggestions whats going on. Son has 2023 Powerwagon and hooked his truck up and immediate boat trailer lights when connected. His does not have the "trailer select" option on his dash panel just as I had on the 2023 2500 Rebel.
