Two questions:

1. Anyone run tow/haul regardless of towing?
2. What about exhaust brake? All the time, or only when towing?

Thoughts on impact to overall life expentcey of power-train, by both options being engage all the time?

You should run tow/Haul mode in just about every condition except highway driving.

Keep the exhaust brake on all the time, EXCEPT IN WINTER.

WINTER driving with tow/Haul and exhaust brake is a no no. Have either do their thing on ice or slippery conditions...you will know why.

They will essentially lock the rear wheels up, and around you go.

And the tow/Haul won't allow you to coast on hills on the highway.

Other than that...the transmission loves the firmer shifts and the exhaust brake loves to keep itself working.

And soon will come the next opinion

EB always.

TH sometimes around town when not towing. TH usually only when towing in traffic or making a hard pull.

I still find myself disappointed that the truck often will not shift out of 3rd going up a steep incline pulling only ~15-16K. I know that 1K lb-ft can do it, why the trans won't step up a gear is baffling.
