Just noticed the outer edge of my front tires are already showing a bit of wear at 3000 mi and the truck visibly seems to be toe in however it drives straight and does not have vibration or anything. This is my first HD truck and I'm wondering if this is normal?

IMO toe in is good because the truck will track strait and not wonder on the road adulations.

The manual for my 3500 recommends tire rotation at least every 7,500 miles, but someone on the forum recommended tire rotation every 3 or 4 thousand miles. I started noticing front-tire wear around 4,000 miles, so I had them rotated.

I would measure the distance between the tires from left to right side of the truck at axle height. Do it on the front side and the backside of your front tires and calculate the difference, it should be very little if any. If the back side is a little further apart then your front, then you have your answer. Make sure you pick a consistent reference point to measure.

Straight axle trucks do not need anywhere near as much toe as the OEM spec. Download the Thuren specs for better tire wear.

@SQUATCH , @1HasBeen - when you guys say by thuren specs, are you following what their
attached pdf shows, which is .0 to .05 on the toe, and 3.8 - 4.2 on the caster ?

i have some carli / custom springs on the way and after i get htem installed i want to hand the
alignment guy the thuren numbers and not have to worry about it. i was thinking as close to
4.0 on the caster, since my wheels are further out than stock.

My truck is all stock, and the camber was pretty close(I misplaced my printout), so all I was concerned with was getting the toe dialed back close to zero.

Yeah I got as close to 0 total toe as I could and then the castor I just pointed the arrow on the cam bolt to the second mark past center towards the rear of the truck on both sides. I know a lot of folks don’t like the idea of using those markings, but worked fine for me. It took a lot of sway out of the cornering and leveled out my truck from side to side.
