Tire Vibration?

Finally got the truck out for a road trip on the highway. It seems I have a fairly significant vibration that starts around 60 mph. It feels like a tire or 2 are out of balance. Would that cause a vibration or is it just the nature of the larger wheel/tire combo? These are the first time I've ever had 35s so maybe that's the cost of having this size tire. Truck is going back to the dealer tomorrow for some other work so I'm going to have them check the balance on the tires if they will. They installed them so hopefully they'll take care of that. Had a set of KO2s that felt similar and had 2 of them replaced as they couldn't get them to balance.

that's usually the sign of an out of balance corner or more. road force balance and see if that helps. many reports of great balance on oversize tires and the same amount of complaints. I just had 37's installed and they balanced out way better than my 35" toyos.

That's what it feels like is an out of balance corner. Hopefully they'll road force balance for me. That's what it took to figure out the issue with the KO2s. I'm going to ask.

hopefully you'll get it rolling smooth.

I was talking to the mobile installer that got my 37's on this morning and he mentioned that rarely do the trie installers execute a road force balance, by the book. the tire and should checked for out of round separately. then tire mounted to wheel, and go from there.

Check that the brake rotor retaining clips from the assembly line are removed, the OEM wheels have a small counter bore to clear the clips where aftermarket wheels do not have the clearance so if they are left on they will cause a vibration

Will they damage the wheels? I sure hope not.

Dealer said they put balance beads in them due to the wheel/tire combo. Not sure why that's needed, but that's what they did. Anyhow, said it's just a symptom of the beads plus the size and aggressiveness of the tires. Something about the beads starting to stay in one spot at speeds? Anyhow, contacted Discount tire and they said they didn't recommend the balance beads for these that I should have stick on weights. Have an apt with them to suck out the beads and balance normally. Hopefully that solves it. He was pretty confident it would. Thoughts?

Unless the dealer put the wrong amount of beads in there or threw the bag in i dont think thats the issue but hope balancing them solves the issue

I've heard mixed reviews on balance beads. been too non believing to try em out, never had a tire that wouldn't balance.

We used them in interco super swampers to start after they worked that well i have used them in many tires since

3 of the 6 Cooper STT pros I bought for my dually were so out of round they sent me 3 more to replace them.

Cooper has been having that issue i have a full set of 4 AT3s like that what a shame they used to be great tires

I have the feeling that my passenger rear is out of round or won't balance with the beads. Dealer isn't really working with me to resolve it so I'm tempted to take it to a tire shop to see what they can do. Unfortunately I'd have to pay them, but at least it might get resolved. And if they can tell me that it's truly a bad tire I can then go to the dealer with data.

If they are a firestone dealer they can do the warranty claim there too

Yep. They didn’t remove the clips. Good call on that one. Not sure yet if that was the issue but that would likely be a symptom of that.
