Time from ship to pickup? When to apply for financing?

Hello all,

My truck was scheduled to be shipped on 12/3. How many weeks should I reasonably expect before delivery and pickup at my dealer? Six, Eight, more?

The reason I ask is most financing quotes are only good 30-45 days. So I do not want to apply too early.

Currently USAA has 72 months at 2.09%. Does anyone know of better terms? Sure wish RAM would include the 2500's in the Zero/72.

I talked to my CU before I ever went shopping for a new truck.
Found out what the rates were for the various lengths of time and at different values. That way I could determine how much cash I wanted to put as a down payment so that I could get the loan payments where i wanted them.

Yes I had to renew the loan approval a few times to keep it current, but nothing changed. When it got close to time for delivery, I talked to the dealership and told them what my rate was. They wound up beating it by 1%. So when the truck was ready for pick up, I went with their lender. Winds up being another CU.

You can wait until you have any actual ship notice that it's been shipped, then go thru with the loan process. Also give the dealership a chance top beat it.

Shipment to delivery will all depend on where you are located. I'm in SoCal and it was about 3 weeks.

Thanks for the information. RAMChat just told me, "The ETA for delivery is listed between 12/25/2021 - 01/11/2022". Even if it comes on 11 Jan, that's about 10 weeks from Order date. I feel fortunate. The dealer told me to expect 14-16 weeks. I read on here other horror stories of people wanting many months.

Once it's been offloaded from the train, start thinking about going in to line up financing a week or so later and you should be fine. Keep in mind the dealer may be able to find a cheaper lender, as someone already mentioned, and that would be done once your truck arrives at the dealership generally.

I dont know how it works there but i did it all the day i picked up the truck as RAM was the best rate in my case

Get financing rates takes 10 minutes, don’t sweat it.
