I’m looking at the Thuren 2013+ 3500 rear leaf pack. Looks promising for improving the ride. Do you guys think it would be worth the $1200?

I may be mistaking, but I believe both Carli and Thuren use Deaver Springs for their rear leafs. I have the Carli "full progressive" leafs on the rear of my 2013 2500 and the unloaded ride is great, but I have to use air bags for any trailer I pull. My 1500 pound ranger crew sags it about 2 inches.

edit - spelling...

Thanks, that is very helpful

I've got no experience with Thurens rear leafs, nor Carli, but I'd guess both are Deavers. Carli actually states they are, Thuren doesn't mention.

That said, I'd say it depends on what you're towing, what you want out of the vehicle and what mods you're looking at. It looks like the Thuren leafs are gonna drop the capacity down to 3/4 ton levels, or at least introduce huge sag. I would be looking at this if it wasn't a strictly tow rig for me, or if I planned on air bags.

I read that Carli rear leafs provide 3" lift where the Thurens provide .5" lift. I wonder if the Thurens wouldn't sag as rapidly as the Carlis with similar weight. I'm also considering changing to the softer rear leafs

None of this really holds true for 2019 and later models though, they lowered the rear so much that I wonder just how much lift there is with the leaf change.

Has anyone actually installed the Thuren leaf pack on a 2019 -2021 as I would like their input on how it changed the ride in the back end. I'm considering ordering a 2022 3500 without air assist and have been looking at these leaf packs to soften the ride for my back issues but don't want to lift the truck like the Carli kit does.

Check out Thurens soft rear leaf pack. They only lift .5” versus the Carli’s 2-3” lift springs.
I’ve thought about changing the rears as well

Yeah, but that was measured from the pre 2019 trucks, so far no one on here has installed them on the 2019 and later trucks that ram lowered 2" in the rear.

Email them, they’re good about getting back quickly.
I was asking about using their 2.25” fronts springs along with the soft ride rears on my 2021 and they said it should be level

I was also looking at the Carli add a pack to replace the overload. has anyone done that versus the whole leaf pack as I would like to retain to stock height as much as possible.

They still aren't too up to date on the 2019+ trucks. When I first inquired for my truck in March/April I was told that my amount of rake couldn't be right, then a few months later he said he had heard of a few more. Then their 2.25" coil lifted my truck 2.75"...

Does anyone know what specifically makes the Carli rear leaf set work with factory air assist on the 3500's, and the Thuren not?

2 most likely factors:
-Spring Rate higher than needed with the airbags adding varying rate/pressure.
-Potential wheel travel exceeds the airbags and could cause damage without other parts (limit straps, etc)

Most real factor:
-not tested/verified by Thuren

I did this on my 3rd gen. 3 inch coils and the rear add a leaf, It was a great ride, but boy would it squat with a load of 5/8 minus in the back. I put the kit on in my garage, i hadn’t put much thought into getting it back out with the extra height. I bet you I had a half inch clearance on the way out.

I started with the Carli add-a-leaf packs on my 3rd Gen. They leveled the truck out with the 3" front coils. It helped the ride quite a bit. I later went to the full leafs and it rode even better. I didn't do much towing with it.

LOL I still have that set of leafs with the add-a-leaf on the side of my house.

Did the full leafs give more lift than the add-a-leaf pack
