Title says it all, I know the Megacab is not the perfect configuration for a 5th Wheel but I know someone out there is doing it. I am thinking some type of auto slider but have zero idea what brand to look at. I love my Rambox's and the math says most hitches should work but are there any real users out there running them? Pics of installed units would be great as well. As far as when not in use, I have a loader to remove heavy items, not an issue for an auto slider.

Please make your suggestions, not interested in getting a new truck so not happening. Also thought about a gooseneck box/adapter for the 5th wheel hitch.

I think the Andersen Ultimate is potentially an option (think I saw a video at some point), but with the pin raised all the way up. Most likely, you'll need a Sidewinder type pinbox that turns at the connection to the fiver, not in the bed. The issue is the clearance on the sides, Sidewinder will take that out of the equation. Never towed with one, as with all things towing, there will be people on both sides of saying it's great or awful. From what I have seen, the only 2 issues are; loss of stability, those who use it say that it's not a thing, people who don't use it swear that their cousins best friend's brother-in-law had a fiver get loose on him and ran over a mule one time... Take it for what it is.

Second issue, which I believe to be real, is that the hookup is more painful. There is a wedge piece that has to go in the hitch to keep the pin from rotating, this basically requires a perfectly aligned connection. My Father in-law had one, said it was painful, but probably not worth scrapping the ramboxes or fifth wheel plans for. Having a fiver now, I won't go back to bumper pull. My 42' 16k fiver pulls night and day better than my 32' 7k travel trailer.

One other note, I think the sidewinder doesn't like a single-point connection hitch (B&W Companion type that connects to gooseneck ball). You'll need to do some work in your bed to get a hitch secured as I am pretty sure Ram doesn't do the fifth wheel prep with RBs.

Hope that helps. My personal feeling is that you may find info on some other things that might work, but in the end, this is your most worry free solution with RBs.

When I was doing research before getting the Ram Boxes on my truck, it looked like the best option was to use a fixed hitch with the Reese Sidewinder. I did see a few people saying they had issues with their 5ver running nose high and a few with sway issues however. I'm sure it could work. Here's a thread I had saved where a guy made it work on a 2018 3500 (not a mega however).

All the recommendations seem to indicate a slider is not an option with Ram Boxes.

Sticking with my TT for now . . .

It was my understanding that you couldn't run a 5W with the RamBox because the 5W mounting points are wider than the bed between the boxes.

Nope even standard 5thwheel rails are narrow enough to bolt in…. I would run a turning point (sidewinder) hitch they are pretty good i have hauled a few, never an issue pinning up

Before i ordered my truck i did my research, i wanted ram boxes and i wanted gooseneck and 5th whell

i found this and i have it on my list of mods and acquisitions after my truck arrives.

You can also look at 5th wheel camper brands, I have a 32ft East To West Tandara and the pin box extends past the camper nose, coupled with a Curt slider hitch, I have no problem with my Mega.IMG_20211022_100801.jpg

I got my 2500 with RamBoxes and now explaring my options for fifth wheel. So far I found two options.
The first one:
The second one:
I am not sure, but the second option looks a bit light on metal and at visually look not that heavy duty. I am not an expert and would be glad to be correctled if I am wrong.

The first option will cost about $3.5K and I was hoping that there are less expesive options in the market since this was discussed here in 2022.

Did anyone have a different experience or saw more products that support fifth wheel hitch in rambox bed?
