The lack of 12v outlets

So, as many of us know, some of the new Rams (mine is a 2019 2500) have one 12v outlet on top of the dash. Ridiculous. I need more. I like 12v because I don't trust the usb's to put out enough power. I have my radar detector plugged into the top of the dash. I also run a monitor for the camera on the back of my travel trailer. Need somewhere to charge phones. Son needs a plug in the back for a 300 watt 12v inverter that he uses for all his technology (ipad or laptop, not at same time).

My question is, if I pull the dash apart and tap into the 12v on top of the dash for two more 12v outlets will this draw to much from that circuit? Will I overload the dash 12v circuit? Do I need to run dedicated wires for each new plug? I have seen some people tapping into power from the wiring under the passenger seat. Maybe I could run the front plug off the dash 12v and the rear plug from the wiring under the front passenger seat. What gauge wire should I use?

Thoughts?

Thanks.

Have you considered one of these 3-way splitters?

Model CC1009

It has overcurrent protection with a digital amp meter. You can turn off individual ports or the entire thing.20200518_151027.jpg

Here are the product specs.

It also has 3 USB 2.4A ports and one QC 3.0 port.

I have heated front seats so there is power under the seats. In fact I just found a connector with just a red and black wire. Couldn't be that easy could it.

Yes, it is just that easy! I don’t have any powered or heated seats but, the harnesses are there for them and they are “hot”! I added a 12v receptacle under the backseat by tapping into the black wire and one of the red wires. Works like a champ!

I also modified a USB cable so that I could power my GPS from it. If you search through my posts, you will find it.
