Hey everyone, I’m looking at purchasing a 2019 3500 tradesman with the hemi engine. It has 40,000 miles on it. I’ve only ever owned a ford 7.3 and a Chevy 6.6. I’m just in awe over the eye appeal of this truck. I see a lot of them on the road. But searching the internet I’ve been finding a lot of negative reviews of these trucks. Including the lowest resale value out there. Just curious what you all are seeing and what things I should look for or ask questions about when I look at it. We will be pulling a 35’ bumper pull camper and a 28’ gooseneck livestock trailer with it. Not every day but occasionally. What kind of things have you found to keep it running good long term?I only have basic mechanic skills so most repairs and maintenance would be at the dealership or my local mechanic.

make sure it has had regular oil changes ie 5000 mile intervals. The 2019 and above has an 8 speed transmission which is better in many ways than the previous 6speed and so far has been pretty bullet proof. Maintenance will be same as any other brand.

7.3 diesel or gas? 6.6 diesel or gas?

Both were diesels
What rear axle ratio does the truck have? I pull a 36ft TT with a 2021 6.4/3.73. I would rather have the 4.10. Ram typically (pre COVID) offered heavy discounts on their new trucks so resale value is a relative term. Fuel consumption with the 6.4 is worse than the Ford 7.3 and the GM 6.6 gas engines. As JADMT mentioned, change oil on a shorter intervals.
