Back story.....the wife wanted a bumper pull camper and I was driving a Ram 1500, I was sure that wasn't going to get it done so I started looking for a used 3500 long bed (to bring the motorcycle along) and found a 2018 gas model which fit the bill. Once we started towing the camper (2021 Flagstaff 36' with GVWR of 12.5k), I realized that getting 9mpg towing on flat ground with a 31 gallon tank wasn't going to get it done.
At this time, I started shopping for a 3500 diesel. Finding a 3500 SRW long bed diesel with the right package isn't as easy as one might expect. I found plenty that had a ton more that I needed and even more that had a ton less but took a while to find the right one.
Ended up with a Laramie with the SO Cummins (was searching for a HO Cummins until I read and watched a TON of material), 50 gallon tank, 12" screen, leather, NAV etc. No towing technology group, no 5th wheel prep but basically everything else.
Big thanks to the guys on here who have been driving/towing with these trucks for the endless knowledge passed along in this forum. I'm a member of some other great forums but this one has a ton of knowledge. This is my 12th or so Ram, dating back to 1998 but my first diesel.
Looking forward to picking it up tomorrow and learning everything there is to know about this truck.
