Up until now my tailgate required a fob in close proximity to open it at the tailgate release handle. Now I can open the tailgate in the absense of a fob for some reason. I don't see a setting related to the tailgate. Has anyone run into this problem and what was the fix? The door handles work properly, requiring a fob in my pocket to open.

Is the truck locked when it happens?

This morning, tailgate opeens, doors don't. Issue is intermittent. There must be a sensor near the tailgate the detects the fob? Not sure how this all works.

So I am trying to figure this out. The Owner's Manual really doesn't help much. I appears that the tailgate will NOT lock if you exit the vehicle, push the exterior handle button and walk away. It WILL lock if you use the door panel switch of the fob lock button and walk away. The system operated purely by a solinoid at each latch. No linkages at all. When the system locks the tailgate, I suspect that the power to the tailgate unlock handle is interrupted. Not sure the algorhythm behind it all (the people that engineered this are smarter than me) but this may be how it is supposed to work. Regardless, I will use the interior door switch or the fob to lock the truck in the future.
