It would be nice if would disconnect whenever in four wheel drive, hate having to hit that button every time after starting the engine and forget to until reminded after being tossed around for a while.
Could it be as simple as tying two wires together, maybe tap the center axle disconnect power with a switch in between?
I don’t know, don’t know much about these newer trucks honestly.
Any ideas?

Lol, on my 2018 only disconnected twice and never worked again. I did not realize these actually ever worked. The first time I complained they said a wire was loose, the second time they said its my fault the under carriage gets wet and charged me 136.00 to add grease. After that it was frozen due to rust. I am curious though, have they made these water proof post 2018? I know prior they were not. That being said the safety nannies turning stuff off is on every vehicle, but sure seems like there would be a way to get around it. They already have speed sensors, or simply do not turn off in low range.

Mine works maybe because I use it a lot and makes a huge difference in ride. I don’t want to remove it because I tow a lot, would be nice if automatic because I disconnect it a lot. The turning off at 20mph or whatever doesn’t bother me, if the truck is doing 20mph the road must be kinda nice..no thrashing in the cab.

The CAD should get 12v power when it’s engaged, same with the bar I’m thinking. Jump the former to the latter, switched. Might burn the truck down or fry something most likely..or just tap some 12volt, switched and relayed and put it to it. Have the extinguisher ready.

Investigated and found there is more to it than continuous 12v, meh. Found a manual setup that it will most likely get eventually.
For now, it’s her job to hit that button every startup on dirt

That other guy says everything is junk it sounds like he beats the crap out of his stuff and wonders why it breaks

One thing I can say for this truck, I have indeed beat the crap out of it and other than stuff like plastic trim junk and a bumper nothing has broken. It has needed zero real repair since 2019 except replacing a POS Rancho shock and it’s brethren that I should never have put on it.

It is entirely possible a number of design flaws were fixed in 2019. But they never talk about those, so you have no way of knowing. They dont say " we got tired of none of the sway bar discos ever working and having warranty work losses on 100s of thousands of Power Wagons and Rubicons so we made it water proof in 2019" Or "the remove your garage door opener light bulbs TSB was silly so we fixed the transmitter in 2019" All you know is they switched to a good transmission, and marketable upgrades like synthetic line, better 35" tire clearance on the front, ect. Funny, I added Fox shocks which wore out faster then the blink of an eye. Cant always buy into the hype. The stock Bilstein's do well.

I've had a '07 PW and my '21 both have never had an issue with the Smartbar.....you do need to clean grease the terminals if you live in a Salt/rust state... I do not so maybe thats why.

Mine was rusted solid and burned out with in less then a year. Greased it, cleaned it, still ended up dead. When I researched the issue what I could find was it was expected you would replace it with a cable actuated system. But after paying 3K to set up an over ride box for the front locker, another 4K for the smart bar fix was too much to stomach on a new vehicle for un warrantied design flaws. The front locker HAS to work, the sway bar not so much. I live in the dry, desert SW and moisture kept my 2018 smart bar from ever working really. I am really curious if front locker actuation was fixed after 2018 as well? I have never heard anything. I 'think' the endless embarrassing journalist test drive videos with front locker never going in are still all 2018 and prior if I recall. Be nice not to have to mess with things that should just work as intended. I use a front locker a LOT and need it to work.

I had a Jeep Rubicon with the Smart Bar .. use to live in North GA and did a lot of mudding and water crossings so it was submerged quite often and malfunctioned quickly . Once it was replaced I removed the connector and packed it full of dielectric grease .. this is the best way to keep it from frying the Computer board inside the bar that controls it. ..
