2020 Ram 2500 6.4L Hemi Laramie 20" wheels
Considering level kit with new shocks all around. May or may not do rear coils as I do tow a decent sized boat/snowmobile trailer 6-10 long distance trips a year.
My question is it sounds like a sway bar is a must for improved performance (feel), but finding varying information about how important or needed the adjustable track bar is???

I get it's use to keep the R/L chassis aligned, but if I'm keeping stock 20" wheel set up, am I gonna notice it and does it hurt it in any way (alignment? driving characteristics? tire wear?, etc.) if I run it without the track bar?

In summary, plan to get a Carli or Thuren level kit with front coils, 4 upgraded shocks and sway bar. With that do I NEED the track bar as well? Leave rear coils stock or change out? Heard the Thurens are quite soft compared to stock, what about Carli?

Thanks for info for newbie.

I'd get the track bar before the sway bar. Regardless of what wheels you put on it adding taller coils will shift the front end over so it's important for alignment. Sway bay isn't a "necessity" in this case. Also their softer rate sway bar is more geared for off-road trucks then towing, heavily loaded trucks.

How much are you planning to lift the front?

If I recall from my reading if you are going 1" or less on the front lift/level, it wouldn't be worth it to add the adjustable track bar. But beyond that it would be.

I decided to add the Rough Country adjustable track bars both front and rear. I don't think I really needed it in the rear with only the 1" lift, but I wanted the adjustability and figured while I was under there doing the work it just made sense.

I was going to do the 2 or 2.5" lift to basically make the truck more level (not a big fan for the front rake look). The sway bar purchase was to improve the ride, especially as noted when you turn into uneven bumps such as turning into the driveway, stores, etc. There is definitely some harshness side to side that will almost put your head through the side window if done at speed and not paying attention. Just trying to soften the ride a little for road/highway use. Don't do a lot of off-roading with it and definately nothing extreme so not really worried about that performance gain. Thank you

This.

So, what do you wind up doing? I may be going with the bilstein 2" front leveling kit. They recommend an adjustable track bar

The importance of upgrading my trucks stock suspension has taken a back seat due to some other more important life concerns. So far I have ordered the track bar (Thuren) but have not installed it yet. I plan to do the Thuren leveling kit but most likely won't be until the fall. I did do the Bilstein leveling kit on my Ecodiesel prior to my HD along with control arms and was very impressed with the improvement from that. I know not apples to apples with a 1/2 ton but rod so much better with the Bilsteins and leveled out. Good luck!

Sorry to hear of your setback and I contemplated all the same scenarious of level and components. I ended up going Carli level, sway bar and track bar, also threw on the steering stabilizer. All parts where Carli and took over 3 months from order to arrival. Wasn’t in a big rush as I had a kidney transplant mid December and I always do my own work. I must say this was the right choice for me, I do a lot of highway anf Texas backroad driving loaded and unloaded. The truck drives so much better on backroads and smoother than any truck I have had in past. I have run about 400 miles loaded with about 10k in tow and it handled those miles great also. We have a long trip from Houston over thru Lubbock, Amarillo, Fort Collins then up to Laramie in a few weeks pulling camper for son to tour collages so curious to see long open miles pulling on setup also.
I have not put any towing miles yet on new tires and wheels that will be over weekend so curious of the hit to mileage from the increase. I went with the method wheels from CJC offroad made for ram HD’s and toyo 37“ tires. Some squat with 900lb tongue weight. Before was level without front leveled. Trying to decide to airbag to get back level when loaded now.

Looks good. Thanks for sharing your info. I will probably be back more at a later time to gain additional knowledge/refresh.

You could always add a 1" spacer to the rear unless you don't like the look of rake. I love those trailers, I've never actually seen one outside of youtube.
