I see people posting about this somewhat frequently with questions about the shackles. I had them installed on my 2019 Ram 3500 SRW Megacab. Specifically the SA-07HD. In December 2022, I have driven the truck about 2000 miles on and off road, towing, and etc. with them on.
My impressions, I noticed an immediate difference when driving the truck unloaded. The rear end road significantly better than without the shackles. I did not change my rear tire inflation pressure after install and had them at 65 PSI. Basically it's probably like putting your rear tires at 30 psi, it really rounds off the bumps and significantly reduces impact harshness. On bad roads that have titled concrete, I found myself driving significantly faster than before because of the improved ride. I didn't detect any additional slop in the suspension, handling seems totally unchanged. No wheel hop if you happen to spin a tire, its not a cure for the 3500 ride, but more like a 40% improvement.
Towing. Ride was unchanged, I'm guessing that with the added weight of some camping gear in the bed, and the hitch weight, that it sagged enough to be on the stops for the sualstic. Actually towing ride quality is now worse than non-towing ride quality, go figure that one.
Off roading - the 1st time I hit something that caused rear articulation, the shackles began to squeak annoyingly on any road inperfection, and it was loud. Fortunately over time it seems to have corrected itself and gone away. I did do several hundred miles off road in December and didn't experience any more failures in the shackles. Did some 4x4 high clearance trails.
Bottom line: Don't waste your money on shocks, the shackles offer more improvement in ride quality when unloaded than shocks did. Yes, I replaced those too after the shackles and really they made no ride quality improvement that was detectable, but they did help with reducing the bounce these trucks get from being underdamped. Will they change your world, no. If your on the fence about keeping the truck, try these, they really do help in ride quality, with no loss of capability. A lot of suspension mods, reduce your payload, worsen handling by raising the center of gravity. Other than they are not free, there is no real downside to this mod.
