Hello,
I am picking up my new 2021 ram 2500 hemi this week from the dealership. I did not get the upgrades sound system in my bighorn. I am wondering if anyone has been able to install a sleek fitting subwoofer in their truck? Maybe behind the seat or under it? I wish I did get the ungraded system now, but it is too late. I am not looking for anything crazy, just something to even out the base sound. I also do not want to lose floor room in the back seat. Is there a way to have the OEM subwoofer installed after the fact? I know from the factory they come under the seat in the storage bin. If anyone has any ideas that would be great!

Crutchfield has some pretty compact units for under the seat. Check out LLJ custom harnesses for noise cancelling bypass and plug and play wiring harnesses for preamp output.

Would the harness make it plug bad lkay with oem head unit? I have the 8.4 inch but don't want to replace it after market but redo the speakers and maybe a sub?

I goes in behind the dash and works with oem, I don’t know of any good way to put an aftermarket head unit in this truck.

Thank you, I hate how much mine lacks. I originally was getting a 2500 with the alpine system but upgraded last minute to a 3500 they had due to payload reasons so I want to upgrade that atleast!

Appreciate the feedback brother.

I don't have my truck yet (on order soon), but I plan on adding a subwoofer under the rear seat. In my Wrangler, I added a Bazooka 6" DVC amped base cannon under the back seat because it is so slim. I cannot confirm it will fit under the RAM's yet but that is my plan, or maybe go with the 8" if possible. I ran the high inputs by splicing off the factory speaker wires. The unit comes with its own internal amplifier so is super compact and clean.

I really didn't have high expectations for it being a 6" and all, but it exceeded those hopes and then some. I have run a pair of 8" subs in a sealed box that didn't sound this good. Even with the Wrangler's top and doors off, it will thump strong enough to shake the mirrors.

These RAM's integrate so much of the truck's functions into the factory "radio" that unless you are really committed, you cannot swap it out with an aftermarket unit. You can, but it would be an interesting and costly road to travel.

For those without the factory amplifier, crutchfield has the ANC bypass for only 10 bucks. iDatalink bCH3

Since I gave up on trying to source the above mentioned MTX. I bought a sealed 12 inch subwoofer enclosure to go under my back seat. It is made by qpower. I am going to hook a 600 watt mono amp to an alpine S, 12 inch woofer. If that doesn’t do the trick I will be hooking up a line out converter with bass restoration to a 4 channel amp that can get rid of the factory- instituted bass roll off that the factory built in to protect the speakers and hopefully that should make music great again. I also just got my ANC bypass in the mail today! I’ll let ya know how it all goes.

I think the only current way is with something like this:

At least until iDatalink and the dash kit manufacturers come out with a universal double din option.

Im waiting on my 2022 Big Horn. I specifically requested the Alpine but some how it didn't get added. Super crushed because I know how good it was in my 2015 but my current 2018 doesn't. I was hoping the OEM sub might just be plug n play but sounds like that isn't the case. I don't know crap about this stuff. Local stereo store wants $600 for sub installed and $500 to upgrade just the front speakers. Sounds way too expensive to me. The Alpine 9 speaker option was only $595

NetAudio has a plug and play harness that will work without splicing for the base radio. Wiring is under one of the front seats I believe. It may cost more but the sound quality will be better if you decide to add more than a sub or just replace the OEM speakers and add a amplifier

I'm not sure if there was a change for 2022, but the stereo in my 2022 Tradesman sounds FANTASTIC. It has plenty of bass. I had a 2015 GMC Sierra before this truck with the Bose system.. my new Tradesman is easily on par with the Bose in the GMC.

Well I certainly hope I'm satisfied. Your words give me some optimism. My salesman said that it should have quality speakers and an amp. I have a 2018 Tradesman and the speakers are alright but I'm hoping the 2022 will be improved.

What size is the sub in the alpine system? I have it ordered in my truck and will be pulling out a single JL 10” from my current truck.

If you are just disabling the ANC you can depin the connector for the mic positive inputs for free

The factory alpine sub is 8" shallow mount.

I’m aware this thread is old but we’re you ever able to fit a shallow mount under the rear seat?
