Posting from Starlink as I sit here waiting for a tow truck in my truck camper. This is a brand new Ram 3500 Limited with the HO Cummins. The truck has 15,500km's and was received in October of 2022. Beautiful truck but now I'm just done.

We were driving on a dirt road for about 45-50km with an Arctic Fox 865 truck camper loaded in the back. We stopped for a minute to stretch and shut the truck off. We then turned the truck back on to continue driving. As were going up a hill I forgot to turn Tow/Haul back on. When I pressed the button the check engine light immediately went out and I lost all ability to put it into gear. The truck was in neutral and could red line if I let it. At this point, we were in a bad spot on the road, blind corner etc... I was able to at least reverse the truck to a better spot. Cool, I have neutral and reverse. The truck still turns on and is able to be given power.

I pulled out the PCM fuse and reset that per the instructions. It flashed all of my system controls in the front of the dash to confirm it had been done. Put the fuse back in but the check engine light was still there.

I then reset the DTC with my AEV Procal Snap. I saw the check engine light flash for the first time but still nothing.

We're stuck on a remote road far from town. Luckily we found a tow truck at a pretty high cost to bring it to the dealer. We had to get a rental as we were headed to our annual family vacation spot.

What do you think happened?
What do you think I should demand from Chrsyler?
What would you do in this situation?

Thanks everyone, have a great day.

K1 snap ring failure.

You lost 1-4.

If you could get it into low range and get the RPM's up high enough, it will BANG into 5th gear and you could move but it's going to do more damage internally.

Glad you were able to get off the road and get a tow.

Sorry to hear about your mishap. Good luck getting anything from Chrysler, maybe $40 a day for the rental and the tow should be taken care of. Just went through this.
