Sticky Drivers Rear Seat Belt Release

I have a 7YO boy so everything is sticky, he is also the reason the drivers rear seatbelt is not working. It would appear that the release is sticky, jammed or broken due to 7 year old boy things happening as he blissfully watches his tablet on road trips.

I beleive he spilled something and gummed up the works. I can release the mechanism with a pick but it will not reset. What do you think would be the best thing to spray in the seatbelt release? I am thinking something like electronic contact cleaner to start then some kind of dry lube.

Any other suggestions aside from taking it to the dealer.

I’d unbolt it from the truck and then try rubbing alcohol to clean it. Put some in and then push the button a bunch. Repeat until it feels like it should.

I'd alternate some spray adhesive remover (like for taking off stickers and decals) and then some alcohol. Try each several times.

Had the same thing in a 2012 ram st. I sprayed this one full of formula 409. Sprayed let sit, work it. Soak work it and so on. Works just fine now. I think mine was spilled soda or sweet tea.
