Does anybody know where the two extra speakers are in the new 2019 1500's VS the 2500's? (19 vs 17?)

Also, are there any other differences in the two upgraded systems other than the two additional speakers?

I have no idea about the speakers, but I can say the sound in the 2500 isn't anywhere near as good as it was in the 1500... pretty sure 2 speakers won't make that big of a difference.

I agree I was very unimpressed with the Harman Kardon system in the limited I test drove. I actually thought the system in a tradesman sounded better in some ways. I read a post somewhere that there might be a software update that makes the system in the 2500 come alive. This happened on the 1500 as well IIRC.

Talking about the software update, is this something I should have the dealer do when I pick my new truck up. I’ll be heading to Dennis Dillon next Friday the 7th to get it.

At this point, I'm just making notes of things I would like addressed... I hate making multiple trips to the dealer and with only 300 miles, I'm not ready to go yet...

You could certainly ask if it is all updated, and they will likely say yes... now, whether it is really updated or not....

Mine is running the latest software and I love the sound of the HK system. On satellite radio the bass is a little weak for most (but for audiophile's who don't like overpowering bass because it muddies up the sound it is great). When you switch to a bluetooth or USB source you get solid base that has to be backed down significantly - it is all about the quality of the source. The actual sound quality is very good for a vehicle.

Good to hear! I was hoping it would be a good sound system and I am excited to hear it myself.

The Harmon Kardon speaker differences between the 1500 & 2500/3500 are in the door. On the 1500, the small angular speaker grill in the upper door is a 2-way 3 1/2" speaker, the same types used in the dash and rear headliner. On the 2500/3500, they left out those speakers & have true 1-way tweeters in the sail panels instead. As Ram counts the 2-way speakers as separate speakers in the total count, that would bring it down to 17. I imagine the high-frequency sound quality may be a little better with the tweeters than the 2-ways. My 3500 arrived at the dealer today, so i'm hoping that when I check it out tomorrow, my HK system has the sofware update & sound quality I'm hoping for :)

Thanks! As a recovering audiophile who spent way too much money decades ago competing in car audio, I'd take the separates any day.

Some tunes just need bass... and on the 1500 it was great regardless of the input. I wouldn't call the bass weak, but rather non-existent on the XM, I have it turned all the way up and really don't get much of anything.
