So many payload numbers

Checked with dealer told 2500 limited longhorn had a payload
Of 3150. Then found ram web site says 2850 called customer care was told 2850 then what is the 1950 on door jam at 1950 does not leave much room for average 5th wheel at 1250
He opened a case. Hope to get something in writing
 
The door jam sticker is gospel when it comes to AS BUILT PAYLOAD.

All the rest are marketing for the lowest trims, gas engines, etc.

You simply cannot have a decent payload with a 2500 Cummins truck.

1250 on a 5th wheel is also a lie. That's going to be dry weight, unloaded. Expect 20-22% of the GVWR of the 5th wheel as actual pin weight. A toyhauler (which is out of a 2500 's league by a longshot, may run less pin % weight with a load.)
 
Check out this thread, some of the lookup links may or may not work. You need a VIN for any truck you're looking at.

 
I just used the lookup listed in the first post on a 2024 limited longhorn and got 1971 payload for that truck. Depends on options, but that's what you get with a Limited diesel.

You need to be looking at 3500's and I'd suggest the air assist truck's if you're running empty much.

If you can wait until 2025, there's a new 8-speed ZF trans (99% sure) and engine (99% sure) coming.
 
Average 5th wheel at 1,250 seems awfully low.

The door jam payload is GVWR minus curb weight, so it’s includes all options.

Longhorns are only offered as 4x4’s with the 6.7 in either crew or mega cabs, which means both the 3,150 and 2,850 numbers are for a different configuration vehicle. The highest payload possible in a 2500 4x4 6.7 is 2,500lbs.

Depending on where you live payload may or may not be a number to be concerned with, so do your own research.
