Hey all-
On my prior truck ('04 Silverado 4wd) and on our AWD Subaru, we have a set of Super Z light truck/SUV chains by Peerless. I guess technically, they're cables...link to what I've used/have: (https://www.peerlesschain.com/light-truck-tire-chain/super-z-lt). Given that this is a bigger truck, do ya'll still think this series product would be fine...again, take into consideration that I live in central NC, snow events aren't often for us, BUT I work for a municipal fire department, so there is the possibility I will HAVE to drive in it. If you think I need something beefier, any recommendations? Thanks

Some 3 peak rated tires will probably serve you as well as those strap type chains. If you get stuck in a 4x4 ram it’s probably because your bottomed out on snow and the tires are kinda off the ground. Real chains ride like hell but are the way to go, serious traction as long as the snow is soft enough for your chassis not to bottom out and the chains reach the ground.

I do carry quick fit chains in my truck, but have never used any chain on a paved road regardless of the conditions (on the truck, I’ve used drag chains on paved roads). I already have several hundred miles in 4 HD V-bar chains on my ‘22 on back roads thou, so I’m not opposed to chaining up but good tires are really all you need in most city/rural conditions.

3PMSF tires are likely all you’ll ever need, but a set of something like this under the back seat can’t hurt for rare conditions.

That’s also the style chain I use as drag chains. Great light duty chain for the price.
