Smoke during regen

Purchased a truck that had a “too frequent” regen issue. Dealer replaced MAF sensor and cleaned DPF. Now we are having p218f issue which I hopefully fixed with a new injector.

Problem is the truck still regens every few hundred miles and smokes (blue ish) occasionally during the regen with a foul diesel smell. I’ve tightened up the down pipe to DPF v band clamp, seems to be coming from there judging from the black soot but still having issues? Do the band clamps get old or weak, is there supposed to be a gasket? I’m guessing there is a physical exhaust issue since I’m seeing smoke and soot from that area.

Clamps don’t necessarily wear out but can be damaged if overtorqued. There are gaskets inbetween some of the flanges as well.
