Hey all, I consider myself an ok wrencher....but this stumped me.

Was under the rear axle looking at the stock spring PN (looking at a spring reverse level- '22, 2500 4x4) and I noticed a shock attached to the rear axle, pointing forward.

Purpose?

Its not to prevent axle wrap its to dampen the slight amount you may get. The shock would have to be rigid to prevent axle wrap like how a ladder bar works

Used to have this on my 6-speed manuals but not on my automatics. Sure do miss the manual…….

Depending on where you look it is called different things such as a power hop damper or an anti power hop kit, etc... Supposedly it is to help keep the rear axle more planted.

Unfortunately though, it isn't an option for those of us with 8' beds.

It also doesn’t eliminate power hop. My Power Wagon hops like a bunny on meth . Really sucks because it means you can’t throttle out of deep snow, etc.

Same. Had it happen so bad once on wet pavement I thought something broke for sure
