Just wanted to pass along thanks to all the people here that have discussed payload, towing, and builds. I came perilously close to buying a diesel 2500 that wouldn't have had the payload for pin weight, let alone anyone to drive the rig. Now starting over on 3500 quotes (blarg!).

As an aside, nice to see some civility online. I lurk in several tech forums that are a dumpster fire of strong opinions, lack of respect and flamefests.

Glad you avoided what so many others have not.

... and I thought I'd done my homework, but missed the derate after options.

My current truck is a Chevy C-60. Weight really doesn't matter as much on that chassis. Sadly, for some odd reason, FCA wasn't buying into using that for the challenge rebates. Something about different definitions of "medium" and "heavy" duty :)

There's a couple pricing threads, but there are incentives out there (I used $1,000 USAA), PenFed, SAMs, etc. You're basically setting yourself up for getting cold called/emailed through trucar dealers and I even got a call from my dealer assigned junior SA (I worked my order directly with the GSM) in a panic as I had already ordered. I LOL and told him not to worry I was just getting an additional incentive that doesn't cost them anything.

Hopefully you've also researched those pricing threads or are otherwise going in with some solid discounts.

There's also a $250 rebate check available from Allstate, you only need to provide a VIN for a non FCA vehicle. I used my 17 year old Audi...
