What could the variables be that affect this much difference with these identical specs?

Tradesman vs Laramie (the weight of trim level differences) is what makes the payload change by 300 pounds. I’m not sure on the tow capacity.

It’s the same reason. For maximum towing the tongue weight is 10%. 300lbs less payload means 3K less towing capacity.

Gross Combined Vehicle Rating is higher for 4.10 than 3.73 due the ability to move and stop a load

The OP asked about diesel 2500’s, which are only offered with 3.73’s.

I didnt read I just assumed. It is the way of the internet. I have embraced it. It is a freeing place to be in towing discussions. No one ever listens anyways. At least this way I know someone atleast read it!

I should of looked a GVW..but didnt might have explained it..So given same drive ratios and bed length the tradesman is lighter truck then..

Hard to tell whats accurate, I entered my Vin in the Ram site and it came back at 19,9k.. 2190 cargo..has to do with levels and equipment I assume..all new to me
