Found this list.
Might be useful information.
See link below:

Good info, but incomplete IMHO.

Colorado is listed as not having any special requirements, but it, like many others I suspect, regular passenger DL's (Colorado class 'R' are only good up to 26,000 lbs GVWR.

That said, I think you'd be hard pressed to find something other than a HDT or big Class-A that's over 26K GVWR that wouldn't require you to obtain some class of CDL or non-commercial enhanced endorsement.

Thats one of the contributing factors why i went with S.D for our residency, besides taxes. No restrictions. As an old cdl operater, I had to give it up for medical reasons. In the next couple years were going to be going with the super heavy luxe fiver wich had a gvwr of 25,999, wich will put me just under my gcwr off 43,000 , depending on what i haul. Every state for the most part is slightly different and if you stay on your own state you won't have a problem. Problems arise if you get pulled over out of states as they are able to enforce there own state laws wich you might not be meeting, but 999/1000 x they will just let you go since your just traveling through and honor your registered states law regarding this unless you get that one h.a. trying to make a name for himself. I keep a copy of my specific SD codified law that says there exact requirements or non requirements to help the officer access my case if need be. We've been traveling for almost 5 yrs now and have never met anybody who has gotten a violation on this law.

NC requires a non-commercial class 'A' if you trailer is over 10k. According to one DOT officer in NC, you'd really have to piss off the officer to get cited unless you are obviously overweight and unsafe. All private and not for hire equipment.

Florida, privately owned RV are good regardless of weight.

As long as you met your state requirements, you are fine.
