April 2025: I'm posting for guidance on my 2022 Ram 2500, Mega Cab, Limited Longhorn, 6.4L Gas, 4x4. Truck as 85k miles on it. Dealer replaced original starter under warranty at 34k miles. The no ignition pattern is random, sometimes it goes days or a a week without issue, cold or hot weather, no pattern. When I push the starter button in the cab, the starter just spins for 5-10 seconds and doesn't start, sometimes it spins for 3-5 seconds and ends up starting with a lag in the ignition (slow to normal). Sometime I hit the button again to turn it off in order to not burn out the starter.
My trial and error attempt at repair:
1: I thought it was a low voltage scenario, so I replaced the battery with a new premium NAPA battery and still didn't fix the random no start (run on starter) problem.
2: I checked the cables and grounds, all seems fine and not rusty, or corroded. Didn't fix.
3: I replaced the 2nd dealer installed starter with a third (professionally remanufactured starter) at 84k miles as a trial and error replacement to the issue; it didn't fix it.
4: I replaced the drive belt and tensioner puller. Didn't fix it.
5: I replaced the sixteen (16) spark plugs with new plugs; and inspected the coil packs and plug boots. Didn't fix it.
Any thoughts on what to try next, other than bringing it to a dealer?
I've read about fuel pump issues, or fuel relays, ECM, etc.?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
