Retractable running board lighting.

no but Seems like if you tied them into the puddle lamp circuit they would fade on/fade off and be pretty slick
I have not done that, but I do play with LEDs.
Because I mostly work with 24 volt, I have been experimenting with these 24 volt strips with a built in driver - so they can connect directly to a 24 volt battery vs needing a separate unit. When I say directly - I mean through a fuse.
This is the 12 volt version - have not used them but the concept is the same.
So far just work table testing but they throw a lot of light. A couple of different colors red in one photo. In another
- 3000 K on the left
- 4000 K in the middle
- 5000 K agricultural on the right ( very high quality spectrum - similar to HID )
All other lights in the garage are off when these are lit up.
For fun a small weather resistant combo breaker / switch I am playing with.
These LED strips and drivers are some of the few that I have found that have an extended temperature range that is similar to a vehicle. You will need to protect them from water with some potting.
