I'm in the process of adding passive entry to my 3500. My 2020 Tradesman came with black door handles. The new passive entry front handles are color matched, so I also purchased rear door color matched handles. The front door panels have access holes placed so that the window can be unlocked from its track so that the door handles can be then accessed. But, I discovered today that the access points in the rear doors are not aligned with one of the window tracks and I am unable to remove the window to swap out the handles.

I tried reaching a small ratchet inside, but I couldn't get to the furthest two bolts. Any suggestions on how to get the window out or another way to access the bolts of the handle?

I haven’t seen the 2019+ HDs rear door carrier plate yet, but if it’s like the 4th gens, there is a recessed outline in the carrier plate that has a nub protruding. You cut the sides and top of the outline with a utility knife to create a door that you fold down, using the nub to pull.

I don't understand why there is no opening on the inner rear door panel like the front to access the the release tabs for the window. It's just like Jimmy 07 said there is an rectangular cutout panel on the lower left side with a pull tab. I cut mine out with an x-acto knife across the top and sides and left the bottom intact so you can pull that tab down to access the window tabs and push it back into place when you are done. I figured that they left that area covered for a reason so I didn't fully remove that access panel.

I had a feeling that was it, I just didn't want to start cutting into things without getting a second opinion. Here's a photo of the rear passenger carrier plate (before I cut into it):

Yup, that’s it.

Since you will have just about everything removed from the door or at least out of the way you might want to consider some aerosol cans of under coating and spray the inside of the doors. If you don't have corrosion problems where you live at least it will help deaden road noise.

That's a good idea. I live in Texas, so we don't have the salted winter roads to deal with as the northern states do, but less road noise is good anywhere.
