After bowing out of a recovery on the Forest Road to my house last night, it got me thinking about what a PW recovery rig build would look like. Last nights was a full size Chevy truck with 3 tires off a cliff and 1 barely on. My other 2 winch rigs were not available in town and no way to attempt it safely with out 2 winches and tying off. The driver from outside the neighborhood also seem a bit tweaky so I was not going to take any risks substituting other methods that may have worked. Once I relocate full time to Colorado I can see even more recoveries in my future above the dozen or more a year I do in our off grid NM neighborhood. A PW is an awesome recovery rig, but as this example, or a UPS truck that beat me in the snow once on a hill shows, it ain't no tow truck. First thought is set up a removal rear winch for dual winches when I need to do a big recovery. But a side winch would give you more options, especially for tying off. Anyone set something up like this, or seen something interesting like this with a modern PW?
