Recommendations on door 6x9 and dash speaker upgrade

I went with the Kenwood 3 1/2s. They are hard to get right now with all the supply issues, but they are beautiful sounding. I did all 3 1/2's.. From my understanding, since the factory are 8 ohms, and plugging in 4ohms, they may be a little "harsh" based on some people's experiences. If that works out to be true for your ears, consider the kenwoods...
Very easy to add resistors if you find it loud.

Yes,I will have to watch the Ohms to balance the sound from the stock system,I have 3 pairs of big dollar speakers form a while back, getting the to fit would be a pain and I would have to power up the wattage.

Kenwood eXcelon's?

Yuppers. I could only get them through their component kit. But since I have HK, everything is 4ohms. So it all went in nicely. Did need 1/4 spacer ring from Amazon for the front doors. Pertaining to the resistors, I would look into further. I’ve “heard” they produce a lot of heat. And since speakers are dynamic and not a “fixed” resistance, rather impedance, that it could possibly affect sound quality. Again, this is from other sites while I was looking into upgrading audio.

Adding resistors is common. You do not add small low-wattage resistors as those will heat up. I did not add them to mine.

I removed my Pioneer TS-G690 door speakers and my Kicker 46CSC354 dash speakers to possible to install in my 2022 3500 with the Alpine system yesterday and WOW does the oem speakers really suck after having the aftermarket stuff in there for the last few months to listen to.

Just checked the service manual on my 22 Alpine with 12 inch screen, it said the speakers should test between 3 and 5 ohms to be good. Hhmm

Hey @brv10, any updates? I think I have the same system as you (2022 with Alpine and 8.4), and would like to get a little more depth and volume.

I got spoiled by my previous truck because I dropped a bunch into it with a 500w 5 channel amp, 200w 12” sub, and upgraded speakers throughout. It really rocked compared to the very basic system that my 2014 Tradesmen came with.

Same system but mine is a 12 inch. Ordered a Pioneer sub and going to make a few calls on speakers tomorrow, one to HVX Audio, the speakers seem to be well build, sound good and cheap. I want to keep my surround sound since I can turn it on and off so I will be getting a 3rd center and the 2 rear overheads, possibly all by HVX. I know everyone is saying 2 ohms but if the troubleshooting says 3-5 I am going with the factory. I also am trying to match speakers sensitivity to around 90-92 dB to match that. I will also go with 6.5 speakers, my old Audiophile in me doesn't like oval speakers.

Installed the NVX speakers in the dash, WAY better but may try some with a little more sensitivity to match the rest, cant wait to put the Morels in the doors.

I'm waiting it out for a bit here, but will definitely make the move with upgrades later this year. I'd like to have speakers that don't distort when I crank them up, but also don't want to create other issues with ANC etc.
I spent about $1400 on speakers, amp, and sub for my old Tradesman (in 2015), but it didn't have anything that was going to "get in the way", so the installation was relatively simple.
I'd love to be able to just change the speakers in my 22 Laramie (with the Alpine system) and leave it at that, but time will tell.

For giggles I tried some Polk Audio 3.5's in the dash, they sounded tinny and the Soundstage was way lower with them, gonna put the NVX speakers back in, much more enjoyable, maybe I will put the Morels in this weekend too.

Good to know that the silks are worth it. Please let us know how the Morels sound.

Will do, at this point I wouldn't hesitate buying some NVX XSP 6x9 speakers to keep the price down, they are surprisingly good.

Got the Morels in, holy crap, the 3 NVX speakers in the dash and the Morels in the doors are insane, I went with 6.5 round door speakers to tighten up the bass and definition, it works, no issues with lack of volume and it sounds like I am surrounded by sound with great definition, not harsh but smooth and detailed. Now to install my Hertz Mille 25.3 tweeters in the headliner.
